NCAA Kiwi Hooper spotlight: Sac State’s Callum McRae
Callum McRae, a Kiwi Hooper, has made history by becoming only the fourth Kiwi to achieve the impressive feat of scoring 1,000 points and making 100 appearances in NCAA Division I Men’s basketball. This is an exceptional accomplishment that showcases McRae’s dedication, talent, and hard work.
Palmerston North is where McRae grew up playing basketball. Then he was recruited to play for the University of California Riverside. After spending four seasons at UC Riverside, McRae decided to continue his college basketball journey at Sacramento State. McRae’s success on the court was immediate, as he quickly established himself as a key player for the team. Throughout his college career, McRae has demonstrated his ability to score points, make rebounds, and play solid defence, earning him recognition as a top kiwi player in the NCAA.
His success on the court is not only due to his height and talent but also his work ethic and dedication. The 7ft big man always strives to improve and elevate his game. His commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed, as his coaches and teammates alike have praised him for his leadership, hard work, and positive attitude.
McRae’s accomplishment is also a testament to the quality of basketball talent coming out of New Zealand. McRae joins a select group of Kiwi basketball players who have achieved this feat, including Kirk Penney, Craig Bradshaw and Tai Webster.
