One of the Breakers first signings in the pre-season was the prized signature of #42 after four seasons at St Mary’s University (2018-2022) where he completed a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Fotu attended Rangitoto College on Auckland’s North Shore and was a former floor wiper for the NZ Breakers before signing as a development player.

AS A SENIOR (2021-2022): Appeared in all 34 games for the Gaels off the bench as a senior … averaged 6.3 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game in 13.9 minutes per game … had a career-high free throw percentage of 75.4% … scored a career-high 22 points in the Maui Invitational in a win over Notre Dame Nov. 22, including the go-ahead three-pointer with less than a minute remaining in that game … named to the All-Tournament team at the Maui Invitational … named West Coast Conference Player of the week on Nov. 29 for his efforts … pulled down a season-high eight rebounds along with 19 points in an early season win against Texas Southern … scored seven points and collected five rebounds in the Gaels NCAA Tournament win against Indiana … scored in double digits in six of the first seven games to start the season … had a four-steal game against Yale on Dec. 28.

AS A JUNIOR (2020-21): Started all 24 games and averaged 23.7 minutes per contest … Scored 8.4 ppg and averaged 5.2 rebounds, third on the team … Led the Gaels in 3-point attempts with 76 … Had an overall shooting line of .419/.316/.745 … Scored a season-high 16 points against Loyola Marymount on Jan. 21 … Had two double-doubles during the season … Came against San Jose State on Dec. 11 (15 pts/10 rebs) and BYU on Feb. 27 (10 pts/11 rebs) … Scored in every single game … Averaged 10.0 points and 28.9 minutes during conference play …. Set a career-high with three blocks against Pacific on Feb. 25 … Played all 40 minutes in a win against San Francisco on Jan. 23 … Named Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 14.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2019-20): One of three Gaels to play every game during the season and also made 19 starts…after season-ending injury to Matthias Tass, played center for the remainder of the year…Scored 17 points and went 7-for-9 in first start of season against Seattle on Dec. 28…Averaged 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game…Shot 65 percent from the field…Scored 16 points against BYU on Jan. 9…Put up 10 or more points in six different WCC contests…First career double-double (16/10) on Feb. 15 against Pacific…Averaged 8.5 points and 25.4 minutes during conference play…Had 10 points in team’s WCC Tournament win over No. 14 BYU…Named Saint Mary’s Student-Athlete of the Week in February.

AS A FRESHMAN (2018-19): Appeared in all 34 games and made four starts…Most starts by a true freshman since the 2010-11 season (Stephen Holt; 7)…First career start came against Bucknell on Dec. 19…Scored a season-high 16 points against Cal and was 4-for-4 from distance…Shot .412 from beyond the arc overall…Averaged 13.8 minutes and 2.8 points per game…Collected eight defensive boards against Bucknell…Season-high 27 minutes on the road at Western Kentucky on Dec. 22…Saw nine minutes of action in the NCAA Tournament game versus Villanova…Put up 11 points against Utah State on Nov. 19.

PRIOR TO SAINT MARY’S: Played with the Tall Blacks National Team for their World Cup Qualifier against China and South Korea last year…represented New Zealand at the 2016 FIBA U18 Oceania Championships in Suva, Fiji…averaged 7.5 PPG and 5.0 RPG during the championship as he led the Junior Tall Blacks to a Gold Medal…captured back-to-back SAS Secondary Schools Basketball Nationals championship with Rangitoto College in 2015 and 2016…led Rangitoto College to a runner-up finish in 2017.
